Why visit Southern Africa?
No tourist region has so much to offer travellers seeking that magical break.
First there is the wildlife.
Conservation is a top priority for all the countries in the region, so it is a treasure house of a huge variety of flora and fauna. The magic of a safari, getting into the wilderness and observing untamed nature, is a profound and unforgettable experience.
Scenic glories.
The landscapes are breathtaking - vast areas of savannah, living deserts, lush forests, awesome mountains, huge lakes the size of inland seas, great rivers with romantic names like the Zambezi, landscapes carpeted by flowers and fields of exotic spices.
A cultural eye-opener.
You will remember too the people of Southern Africa - diverse in their traditional ceremonies and dances but united in the unfailing hospitality they display to visitors. Expect to be greeted with broad smiles and helpful courtesy wherever you go.
Wonderful weather.
The Southern African climate is another attraction - the seasons broadly the reverse of those in the UK but with sunshine throughout most of the year.
Then there's the lack of jet lag.
Despite the fact the region is a long-haul destination, because you are travelling south, times are only an hour or so ahead of those in the UK.
And its easy to get around.
Frequent regional air links make it easy to combine two or more countries into a single itinerary, turning a holiday into an odyssey of a lifetime. Getting around by car is simple too. |
