Tanzanian Tourism Minister, Jumanne Maghembe said seafront land and land on lake areas had been allocated for investors to build five-star hotels. He said it would help the country to attract high-end holidaymakers.
“Our country has attractions, including wildlife, mountain climbing at Mount Kilimanjaro, marine parks and culture,” he said. “It has come to our understanding that we have inadequate beach hotels. That is why we have earmarked more land for investors to build more beach hotels.”
The campaign for construction of more beach hotels is part of Tanzania’s aim to meet its target of three million international tourist arrivals by 2018.
In a bid to achieve the goal, the Tanzania Tourist Board has set its sights on emerging markets in Europe, Asia and South America to increase visitor numbers.
