Following an upgrade of computers, African Pride investigated ways the equipment could be recycled. Their research led them to the Turing Trust, who recycle IT equipment for the benefit of local schools in Africa.
To make the most effective use of the costs of transporting the equipment, African Pride promoted and organised a collection of equipment from local businesses in and around York.
In January, African Pride were delighted to pass on over 150 IT items for refurbishment to the Turing Trust. Once re-purposed, they will be delivered to schools in Ghana and Malawi, helping to provide a digital education. On average, the trust estimates that a classroom of 20PCs provides digital educational benefits to a further 360 students.
